KARACHI: The Ministry of Inter-Provincial Coordination confirmed on Tuesday that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Management Committee, led by Najam Sethi, has been dissolved.

The ministry also said that all the affairs of the PCB have been handed over to the Election Commissioner Ahmed Shehzad Farooq Rana.

Rana's appointment was made by the PCB's Patron-in-Chief and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, in accordance with Article 29 of the PCB Constitution 2014, in February earlier this year.

In December last year, PM Sharif appointed a 14-member committee to reinforce the 2014 constitution, bringing back departmental cricket.

Initially, 120 days were given to the committee to restore the 2014 constitution. However, a two-month extension was given to Sethi and company which ended today.

Earlier today, the premier also nominated Zaka Ashraf, who is likely to become the new PCB chairman, and Mustafa Ramday for inclusion in the PCB Board of Governors (BoG).

With the nomination of Ashraf and Ramday, the BoG's 10 members have been completed. Apart from aforementioned duo, four representatives each from cricket associations and departments are also part of the BoG.

After the nominations from the PM, the chief election commissioner will announce the schedule for the election, which is likely to take place this week, of the PCB chairman.

Meanwhile, Sethi confirmed that he is no longer in the race to become the PCB chairman.

Sethi, who is currently the chairman of the PCB Management Committee, shared the update in a tweet on Tuesday.

The 75-year-old said that he doesn't want to be a "bone of contention" between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Pakistan Peoples Party co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari.

The composition of BoG is as follows:

• Two PCB Patron nominees

• Four regional representatives i.e. Peshawar, Lahore, Karachi and Rawalpindi

• Four department/service organisation representatives i.e. Sui Northern Gas Pipeline Limited (SNGPL), Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC), Pakistan Water & Power Development Authority (WAPDA) and Khan Research Laboratory (KRL)
